Death Of California Soldier In Afghanistan Under Investigation

Army Sgt. Christopher W. Mulalley

The military is investigating the death of Army Sgt. Christopher W. Mulalley, 26, of Eureka, California.

Mulalley died Aug. 22 in Gardez, Afghanistan in what the Department of Defense is calling "a non-combat related incident."

No other information about the circumstances surrounding Mulalley's death has been released by the Pentagon.

He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 3rd Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.

Mulalley was a 2006 graduate of Eureka High School, according to his Facebook page. He leaves behind a wife and two young sons.
