Multi-award-winning Brenda Blethyn returns as the unorthodox but brilliant Detective Chief Inspector Vera Stanhope, investigating more chilling crimes only she can solve.
Set in contemporary Northumberland and Newcastle, Brenda is reunited with co-stars Kenny Doughty, Cush Jumbo, Jon Morrison, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Lisa Hammond and Riley Jones in four new episodes from Season 6 of VERA.
DCI Vera Stanhope, Detective Sergeant Aiden Healy (Doughty) and their team carry out various murder investigations including the deaths of an elderly grandmother, a local teenager and a hit-and-run victim.
Episode 1: “Dark Road” airs Thursday, Oct. 15 at 10 p.m. on KPBS TV - Vera investigates the mysterious death of Ann-Marie Richards whose body is discovered by a young girl on the wild and desolate Northumberland moors. Unbeknown to Vera and her team, this case will have devastating and long lasting effects for all involved.
Episode 2: “Tuesday's Child” airs Thursday, Oct. 22 at 10 p.m. on KPBS TV - DCI Vera Stanhope investigates the death of a man whose remains were discovered in remote caves.
Episode 3: “The Moth Catcher” airs Thursday, Oct. 29 at 10 p.m. on KPBS TV - DCI Vera Stanhope investigates a mysterious double murder in a remote country manor house. Episode 3 is an adaptation of "The Moth Catcher" by Ann Cleeves.
Episode 4: “The Sea Glass” airs Thursday, Nov, 5 at 10 p.m. on KPBS TV - When the body of a missing fisherman is found tangled in the nets of a North Sea trawler, Vera and the team delve into the lives of his family and a close-knit fishing community.
