County officials said they will resume vaccinations with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine on Tuesday, after the California Department of Public Health gave the green light to do so over the weekend.
San Diego County had paused use of the vaccine following guidance from federal regulators on April 12.

Federal health officials uncovered 15 vaccine recipients who developed a highly unusual kind of blood clot, out of nearly 8 million people given the J&J shot. All were women, most under age 50. Three died, and seven remain hospitalized.
The CDC concluded April 23 the benefits of the vaccine outweigh its risks and reauthorized it for emergency use.

A county spokesperson on Monday said the single-shot doses will be used again for homebound residents, mobile vaccination events and agricultural workers.
Other medical providers are also beginning to use the Johnson & Johnson vaccine again too.
“We are basically green light as of today to start reusing the J&J as we were before,” said Dr. Christian Ramers with Family Health Centers of San Diego. He added they have several thousand doses ready to go.
Sharp Healthcare officials said Monday they were resuming their vaccination program for homebound residents using the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
A UC San Diego Health spokesperson said they are putting the J&J vaccine back into their vaccine clinics.
A Scripps Health spokesperson said they receive weekly allocations from the county and do not have any word on when they will be getting Johnson & Johnson doses again.

The County of San Diego currently has about 12,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine available and will offer them at mobile vaccination sites and walk-up vaccine pods.
A new vaccination location, the Linda Vista Vaccine Site at the University of San Diego, opens Tuesday. The site will be open from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
