The Twilight Moms got their wish. They said Johnny Depp would make a surprise appearance in Hall H for Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" panel just like Hugh Jackman had made a surprise appearance last year. And even though I thought it was unlikely to happen, I was proved wrong. But Depp came out waved, said a quick line about Burton that was drowned out by the fans and then exited the stage. It could have been one of those Jack Sparrow doubles milling around the convention floor since he didn't really say anything or give anyone a good chance to look at him. It seems odd to bring him out and not have him actually partake in the panel. The 3-D clips of the film highlighted Depp's Mad Hatter and they looked wildly fun.
