Trailer Tuesday: Inception

Chris Nolan Takes a Break From the Dark Knight

Inception Trailer

Christopher Nolan has been basking in praise for his two Batman films -- "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight." So naturally everyone wants to know when the next installment will be and who will play the villain. Rumors of Eddie Murphy as the Riddler and Megan Fox as Catwoman have been scary but Nolan has been pretty mum on the subject. But before he tackles another Batman tale, he's trying his hand at something new. So check out the trailer for "Inception" (opening July 16, 2010).

Nolan has also been tight-lipped about what exactly his new film is, and that's probably smart since it doesn't open until next year. When the film was initially announced, all Nolan let slip was that Leonardo DiCaprio would star and that it was a sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind. Here's the first teaser-trailer to hit the web. You can't glean much more info from the trailer but visually it looks a lot like the mind-bending universe of "The Matrix" or maybe "Dark City." There's no dialogue in the trailer only the cryptic tag line: "Your mind is the scene of the crime." So maybe there's a little of Nolan's "Memento" mixed in as well. In the trailer, Leo looks as dazed and confused as he does in the upcoming Martin Scorsese film, "Shutter Island." I wish filmmakers would start looking to someone new and give us a rest from DiCaprio for awhile. He's not a bad actor but I getting a bit tired of him and his earnestness.

In addition to DiCaprio the cast boasts Marion Cotillard, Michael Caine, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Cillian Murphy and Tom Berenger. The trailer is courtesy of Warner Brothers.
