"Clash of the Titans" (opening April 2) is a remake of a 1981 Ray Harryhausen adventure and it will be one of an increasing number of films being distributed in 3D. Here's the latest trailer.
The Greek gods are battling it out on screen and off as "Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightening Thief" and "Clash of the Titans" both serve up gods and titans from Greek mythology. So we'll soon be able to choose whether Liam Neeson or Sean Bean is more convincing as Zeus, the King of the Gods. But the bigger battle may be what films get to screen in a 3D theater. The unexpected long term popularity of "Avatar" in 3D means that theaters will have to clear their screens of the still hot selling feature to make room for "Alice in Wonderland" on March 5, Then "Alice" will need to make way for "Clash of the Titans" on April 2. So for the moment, 3D is here to stay and theaters will have to decide if that's a sure enough thing (and if there will be enough "Avatar"-type cash cows) to invest money in converting more theaters into 3D venues.
For now enjoy the non-3D trailer for "Clash of the Titans" with plenty of things flying out at you. Sam Worthington plays Perseus, and continues to build his gallery of action heroes with heart.
