Check out M lecturing James Bond about the current inequalities and obstacles women face in their everyday lives. Plus a list of women directors worth checking out in honor of International Women's Day.
In honor of International Women's Day I thought I would post this video featuring Daniel Craig (the current James Bond) and the voice of Judi Dench who plays Bond's superior M. She grills and lectures the famously chauvinistic Bond about the current state of inequality for women.
The clever video appears on the We Are Equals website. The organization is a partnership of leading charities brought together by Annie Lennox to celebrate the centenary of International Women's Day.
In honor of International Women's Day you might want to check out films by women directors such as Ida Lupino, Kathryn Bigelow, Lina Wertmuller, Susanne Bier, Mira Nair, Sofia Coppola, Julie Dash, Barbara Kopple, Nicole Holofcener, Catherine Breillat, Rebecca Miller, Deepa Mehta, Mary Harron, Sally Potter, Chantal Akerman, Maya Deren, Agnes Varda, Agnès Jaoui, Margarethe von Trotta, Anita Loos, and many more. But this list should keep you busy for a little while.
Thanks to all these talented women directors who have made cinema better.
