Three months after the Great East Japan Earthquake, Japanese public broadcaster NHK produced a three-part documentary series, "NHK World Special: Standing Up, Moving Forward," featuring people in the affected region trying to overcome the sorrow and recover from the devastation.
March in Japan is the season of graduation ceremonies. After the devastating earthquake hit on March 11, 2011, circumstances surrounding school children changed drastically. The second episode features these school children, their parents and teachers, fighting back and working together to overcome the tragedy and go forward into the future.
