The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County rose Monday to its highest amount since Feb. 27, 2013, increasing four-tenths of a cent to $4.292.
The average price has risen four consecutive days and is 1.5 cents higher than a week ago, 26.4 cents more than a month ago and 40.1 cents above what it was one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The rising prices stem in part from the increased cost of ethanol and extended refinery maintenance, reducing the supply, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
