Historic Jewish Artifacts Donation Helps Support Diversity At SDSU
A San Diego man has donated his personal collection of Jewish scrolls and maps to San Diego State University's Love Library.
Howard Singer collected religious artifacts during his travels around the world for work. During the last 10 years of his career at IBM, he found himself traveling to places like Turkey, Morocco, Spain and the Netherlands. Along the way, he picked up old copies of the Torah, some written on animal hides.
Singer is a member of the Aztecs Parents Association. He said he gave the collection to the university to encourage mutual understanding and appreciation of diversity.
The collection has been appraised at nearly $500,000.
