The time to debate the decision to go to war in Iraq has passed, Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ), says. "The reality is, we're there. And the question is, what do we do about it?" The focus now should be on leaving Iraq in a "stable situation," he tells Scott Simon.
Kyl says the current debate in the presidential contest over authorizing the war is a distraction from the U.S. military success in Iraq.
"It's a false political game that these folks are playing to turn attention away from the fact that it turns out that our effort in Iraq is working," he says.
