Attacks on Foreigners Spread in South Africa

The death toll from xenophobic attacks in South Africa is approaching 50, and the government is deploying the national army to help police in particularly volatile areas. Foreigners from Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Congo and Malawi, who fled to South Africa to escape violence, poverty and joblessness in their own countries, say they would rather return to their homelands than risk being killed.
