Recycling plastics, bottles, bags, containers and more has become standard in many American households to help remove plastic pollution from the environment.
But now, the central idea that most plastic can be recycled is being called a deception.

California Attorney General Rob Bonta has launched an investigation into the oil and gas industry’s campaign to promote plastic recycling claiming it was an effort to sell more plastic.

Bonta says the truth is that the majority of plastics cannot be recycled — a fact that the industry has long known.
