Hundreds of families who were separated at the U.S.-Mexico border earlier this year are now being given a second chance to seek asylum in the United States.
On Thursday, San Diego Federal Judge Dana Sabraw officially approved a settlement between the government and attorneys for families separated.
Under the agreement, the separated families will get a second interview to determine if they have "credible fear" of persecution in their home countries.
The settlement comes as hundreds of members of a migrant caravan arrived in Tijuana this week to seek asylum in the U.S.
Courthouse News reporter Bianca Bruno discusses the significance of the settlement, Friday on Midday Edition.
