New Marine Leader For Camp Pendleton

Major General John Toolan
CPO Leslie Shively
Major General John Toolan

Maj. Gen. John Toolan will soon become Camp Pendleton's top general. The Department of Defense announced Toolan has been nominated for a third star and assignment as commander of the I Marine Expeditionary Force, which is based at Camp Pendleton.

Toolan is currently serving as the commanding general for the 2nd Marine Division at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.

You might be wondering about the picture of Toolan that's accompanying this post. Back in March, Home Post wrote about a farewell party Toolan hosted at Camp Leatherneck in Afghanistan, when Gen. Charles M. Gurganus, commanding general of the I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), took over command of Regional Command Southwest from Toolan. During that gathering at Camp Leatherneck's Afghan Cultural Center, Toolan showed off his dance moves to the delight of those around him.
