The political affiliation of registered voters San Diego County has swung back toward the right. A new report out from the San Diego County Registrar of Voters shows there are slightly more registered Republicans than Democrats in the county.
Out of just more than 1 million people who register as either Democrats or Republicans, the GOP has an 100-person lead. The Republicans have an overall advantage in the unincorporated areas of the county, while Democrats remain dominant when voter registrations from the county’s 18 cities are pooled together.
The registration advantage has seesawed between the two political parties for several years. In San Diego, the county’s largest city, Democrats outnumber Republicans by nearly 75,000 people.
