At Monday's press conference held by her attorney Gloria Allred, Mayor Bob Filner's former communications director, Irene McCormack Jackson, revealed details about her working life in the mayor's office.
She accused him of touching her inappropriately, saying it would be better if she came to work without her underwear and putting her in a headlock and dragging her around the office like a rag doll.
It turns out these accusations were only the beginning.
By Thursday, six more women had told similar stories to KPBS investigative reporter Amita Sharma and KPBS metro reporter Sandhya Dirks, all of them professionals, all of them well-known in the business and academic communities.
They include Sharon Bernie-Cloward, president of the San Diego Port Tenants Association; Ronne Froman, retired Navy Rear Admiral and San Diego's Chief Operating officer under Mayor Jerry Sanders; Patti Roscoe, a businesswoman in San Diego's tourism and hospitality industry; and Joyce Gattas, dean of the College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts at San Diego State University.
Asked why she came forward now, Patti Roscoe said, "because enough is enough."
