A brush fire that blackened 100 acres near Julian is 60 percent contained, according to Cal Fire Battalion Chief Nick Schuler.
Approximately 400 firefighters battled the blaze, and two tanker planes and two helicopters made drops on the fire that started just after 5 p.m. Wednesday night.
The blaze, dubbed the Narrow Fire, was reported off state Route 78 near Highway S2.
Schuler said the flames were fanned by 30 mph winds that pushed the fire in an easterly direction.
Full containment is expected by noon today, according to Schuler.
