A project to modernize the campus at Our Lady of Peace Academy will get another look from the City Council today.
Council members denied construction permits two years ago because plans called for destruction of three houses owned by the all-girls Catholic school, two of which they said were locally significant resources under the California Environmental Quality Act.
The project received approval from the Planning Commission, but neighbors and community groups appealed to the City Council, saying the architecture of the homes contributed to the character of the area, in University Heights.
OLP filed a lawsuit that was settled last year, when the school came up with a new plan that preserved the homes.
The City Council needs six votes to decide to reconsider, and an actual hearing on the project would be set for a later date.
