  • Annual Turkey Calling Show 2024 When: Nov 27, 2024 from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m. Where: UCSD Geisel Library, Seuss Room Free! It’s that time of year again! Join us at UCSD Geisel Library for our Annual Turkey Calling Show and learn more about the beloved turkey through calling techniques and more. This noisy show at the Library has become a community tradition. Kids are welcome (and they’ll be reciting turkey-related riddles). Presented as an old-time radio show, this celebration is filled with music, sound effects, stories and facts of interest… prizes, too (no one leaves empty-handed). Your host and bandleader Scott Paulson, a UC San Diego alumnus and exhibits and events coordinator at the Library, has been lauded by the San Diego Union-Tribune for his entertaining shows: “an avant-garde vaudevillian, think Samuel Beckett meets John Cage.” The Los Angeles Times relayed “Paulson’s brand of G-rated fun, a sort of modern-day morphing of Captain Kangaroo and Spike Jones, is always lively and at times wonderfully chaotic.” Joining Scott Paulson that day: Story Lady Melanie Peters, Turkey Hotline Operator Karen Fisher, DJ Camille Cannon and special musical guests Bobby Ortiz and Christian Hertzog. This event is free and open to the public. Registration is not required. Contact: Scott Paulson: spaulson@ucsd.edu Visit: Annual Turkey Calling Show UC San Diego Library on Instagram and Facebook
