Hailing from the musical mecca of Macon, Georgia, and raised in the deep Southern roots of blues music, classic rock n‘ roll and the fire and brimstone hymns of his father’s Southern Baptist church, for Rick Brantley, a life making music was never really a choice. Teenage bar bands gave way to a move to Nashville, TN where he established himself as one of the most in demand young writers on Music Row, with cuts ranging from Meat Loaf to David Nail. An artist and dynamic performer as well as a songwriter, Brantley cut his teeth early and secured a well-earned reputation as a consummate “road dog” touring virtually nonstop all over the world for the next decade, opening for everyone from John Hiatt to Kiefer Sutherland to Zac Brown and Brandy Clark, as well as headlining his own shows from Ontario to Hamburg and back. Now some fifteen years into his career, Brantley has only added to his impressive portfolio, producing acclaimed records with artists like Rob Baird and Justin Halpin, among others and directing music videos in his down time. Living in Brooklyn, New York these days and expanding his musical horizons by producing and music directing Pops Symphony shows in addition to his own touring and recording, even Brantley admits it would be hard to predict his next move. • The Thanksgiving season is upon us. Lots of cooking and cleaning. Relatives and friends gathering together. It's a busy time of year for all of us. Would you like to take a 3-hour break doing something fun and creative? Something peaceful? In this workshop, we will do large drawings using salt on black poster board, and coffee on white butcher paper. Working from black and white reference photos provided by the instructor, you will learn some fundamental drawing techniques. These are temporary - you won't take anything home except some knowledge, and photos of your drawings. This is a meditative process that is an interesting antidote to the chaos of the holiday season. Materials: All supplies are provided—just bring your phone to take photos.
