  • Mellano & Company, a family-owned San Diego-based flower farm, is excited to announce their participation in the annual Petal it Forward campaign in downtown Oceanside on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 10 a.m. The company will be at the Civic Center, 300 N. Coast Hwy., with a flower cart handing out 1,200 free, fresh-cut flowers to the community. “We are excited to connect with Oceanside residents and make their day a little brighter,” Mellano & Company President Mike A. Mellano said. “Flowers have the ability to make people smile, and the opportunity to make someone’s day just a little bit better with our flowers is something we do not take lightly and are extremely excited about. It’s time to help spread love and kindness, something our company is all about.” Mellano & Company will participate in the eighth Petal It Forward, a campaign started by the Society of American Florists to bring awareness to the health benefits of receiving and giving flowers. Representatives from the farm will be in downtown Oceanside on October 19 handing out flowers from the company’s local, Southern California farm to residents walking the downtown area. Petal It Forward is a nationwide campaign encouraging local florists to hand two flowers or bouquets to an unsuspecting stranger, urging them to keep one and share the other with someone else. Started by the Society of American Florists, the day is an example of the industry coming together for a common goal of spreading love and kindness throughout local communities. Mellano & Company is proud to do their part in bringing this national campaign to Oceanside. For more information on Mellano & Company, visit mellano.com.
