  • This year we are building awareness for lung health in a whole new way, with an exclusive pickleball Tournament and Celebration of lung health! This year, ABC’s First Golden Bachelor and Pickleball enthusiast Gerry Turner will be joining us in the celebrity match on Center Court with other notable American Lung Association friends. Whether a first-time player or weekend warrior, all are welcome to join and compete against other local mission-oriented business and community members from across Southern California. The day starts with a free clinic by a pickleball pro followed by various skill level tournaments. The top two teams from each tournament will then compete on Center Court for awards and bragging rights! Top fundraising teams will also be acknowledged too! To add to the fun and networking, there will be a celebrity match and many VIPs to interact with throughout the event and at post tournament celebration. “Play Your Way” Want to participate, support and play, but you can’t be with us in person? You can register and join the roster of teams, play on your own time, anywhere and be a Champion for Lung Health by supporting the American Lung Association. Pickle 4 Lungs celebrates the American Lung Association’s 120 years of service to lung health. Your participation and generous donations will help us continue to serve our mission to save lives by preventing lung disease and promoting lung health for generations to come. No Tickets are required to RSVP to our Celebration. Just simply click on the registration tab and follow the prompts for individual registration. • Wet felting fun! October 5, 9 a.m. - Noon Join us for a creative time around wool and fellowship! In this 3-hour workshop you will learn the ancient art of wet felting — the process of loose wool becoming a fabric (felt). This textile art technique has been used for millenniums in the making of rugs, clothing, and homes (yurts). Instructor Sylviane Collier will demonstrate the technique, taking you step-by-step through the project and providing guidance along the way so you may enjoy the creative process and let your inner artist take the lead. First you will create your own picture by layering wool fibers (you will have a wide selection of dyed merino wool to choose from) to finish with the binding of all the fibers using a wet felting technique. We will use bamboo mats, water and soap for the felting process. It is not a messy process, just a wet one. Towels will be provided. Each student will create a one-of-a-kind 8”x 8” “painting.” Images of flowers, landscapes and animals will be provided for inspiration. Students are also welcome to bring their own. A material fee of $10 (cash only) to be paid to the instructor at the start of the class. No prior experience necessary. Ages 14+ welcome! All materials included. • Military and sibling discounts. • Scholarships available. • Homeschool funds accepted. • If this class is full, join the Interest List.
