Loud and Proud" will take place at the gorgeous new Performing and Visual Arts Center at Grossmont College on Friday, June 7 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, June 8 at 4 p.m. Featuring iconic musical numbers from Broadway and pop hits which emphasize that love is universal, "Sing Out! Loud and Proud" is not just a celebration of diverse identities; it's a powerful affirmation of shared strength in the face of adversity. The performance promises to be a vibrant tapestry of life, love, and a testament to the resilience, joy, and multifaceted nature and journeys of LGBTQ+ experiences. Encore Vocal Ensemble is San Diego’s go-to choral group for quality, entertaining performances of musical theatre at a great value. Through mainstage and community performances, and a robust schedule of master classes, Encore members share their love of live performance with the San Diego region while expanding their capabilities as performers. Led by acclaimed Music Director Tim McKnight, Encore is recognized for its professional quality of performances and brings together a talented group of more than 50 singers, dancers, and actors who are looking to further improve their musicianship and give back to the community. Encore creates a safe space for singers of all backgrounds where diversity is celebrated and members support one another above all else.

Children will learn about the safe use of hand tools as well as the properties of wood. Along the way, we’ll make fun and functional projects the children can later take home, including a group project that fosters teamwork, collaboration, and creative problem solving. Projects and depth of skill exploration are matched up to the children’s age/ability. This camp is recommended for children 8-12 years. OPTIONAL | Lunch Hour Supervision If there is a camp ending as ours begins and you need your child transferred, let us know! And, if you’d like your camper to stay during the lunch hour, there’s a $25 fee for the week to cover the lunchtime gap. They can bring a lunch and have lunch with us with the option to do a fun craft after lunch.   • Maritime Museum of San Diego, home to one of the world’s largest collections of historic vessels, fascinating exhibits, and on-the-water adventure guest experiences, will host the 5th Annual Oceanography Merit Badge Days Saturdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 15, July 27 and Aug. 10, 2024. Scouts BSA youth may enroll to earn their Oceanography Merit Badge through participation in one of three Saturday classes at the Maritime Museum of San Diego. Scouts must complete one class to earn their Oceanography Merit Badge so participants can choose the date that works for them. The program gives local scouting youth the opportunity to more deeply explore the ocean that is so integral to the San Diego community. By combining field work, laboratory observation, and scholarly discussion, Oceanography Merit Badge Days at the Maritime Museum of San Diego allow scouts to become fully immersed in the multiple branches of oceanographic research. An OMB Days scouting parent participant shared their enthusiasm for the program stating, “Several of our troop scouts thoroughly enjoyed working on the Oceanography MB at the Maritime Museum. You could not ask for a better venue that allowed the kids to be out of a typical classroom environment. Scouts sure did enjoy hands-on experiences, exploring the museum and engaging with the great counselors." Each scout or group of scouts are required to be accompanied by a parent or adult chaperone. All Scouts BSA Youth Protection guidelines must be followed at any event with registered Scouts present. Reservations must be done online in advance at sdmaritime.org.
