  • Need ideas for your holiday baking this year? Get inspired at this fun baking demo with Chef Tommy of Big City Chefs! Space is limited, registration is recommended. Walk-ins will be accommodated as space permits. About Chef Tommy: Food has been my passion for as long as I can remember! I spent a lot of my childhood helping my mom in the kitchen experimenting with flavors and learning the magic of cooking. By age sixteen, I was working as a busser soaking in the energy of a busy restaurant. Instead of following my culinary dreams, I took a detour and instead went to college to study accounting. I received a Bachelor of Science and cruised through a successful five-year sales career. Despite my successes, I always felt I was meant for something more and decided to pursue my true calling in the restaurant world. I kicked things off as a server in Charleston, SC before moving to San Diego, where I worked my way up to General Manager at Knotty Barrel. Along the way, I enrolled at the Institute of Culinary Education and gained experience working at Michelin-starred Gramercy Tavern in NYC, Trust and as Sous Chef at Sandpiper Wood Fired Grill & Oysters. By December 2024, I was ready to break free from the traditional kitchen grind and launched my own personal chef and catering company. Now, I’m thrilled to be working with Big City Chefs offering catering, cooking classes and more! Whether you’re looking for an unforgettable meal or a hands-on cooking experience, I’m here to take you on a culinary adventure! Coronado Public Library on Facebook / Instagram

San Diego, CA – October 2025 – Gyminny Kids, one of California's most established and highest-rated gymnastics programs, is proud to announce the grand opening of its fifth location inside the Westfield UTC Mall. The new 5,500-square-foot facility, located in the former G3Kids space, is scheduled to open to the public in November 2025, offering classes, camps, parties, open gym, and drop-and-shop programs designed to inspire confidence and character through movement. Founded in 1987 and now celebrating nearly four decades of excellence, Gyminny Kids has become a household name in San Diego County, serving over 6,000 weekly students. The company is a two-time Inc. 5000 honoree and continues to set the standard for gymnastics education, family fun, and community impact. "Opening inside UTC is more than an expansion—it's a statement about the next chapter of family fitness in San Diego," said Daniel Gundert, Owner and CEO of Gyminny Kids. "You can literally shop Gucci downstairs and do back handsprings upstairs. It's a perfect blend of luxury, legacy, and laughter." The UTC location will feature Gyminny Kids' signature bright white "gym heaven" design, which is modern and inspiring for children and parents alike. All-inclusive programs include: - Preschool & School-Age Gymnastics Classes - Bungee Bouncers & Tumbling - Camps, Parties & Open Gyms - After-School Programs & Xcel Team Training - Drop-Off While You Shop convenience options for mall visitors - Special Needs VIP classes - State-of-the-art Olympic equipment Gundert, who began coaching at Gyminny Kids over 20 years ago and later purchased the company from its founders, has transformed the brand into the largest gymnastics organization in Southern California, serving thousands of children each week across its five locations: Poway, 4S Ranch, La Costa, Carlsbad, and now La Jolla (UTC Westfield Mall). "Our mission is simple—teach life through gymnastics," Gundert added. "Every cartwheel builds confidence, every class builds character, and every smile reminds us why we do this." The soft opening celebration (November 9, 2025, 1-5 p.m.) at UTC will be free and open to the community, featuring giveaways, performances, open gym, and meet-and-greet opportunities with coaches and staff. Location: Gyminny Kids La Jolla (Inside Westfield UTC Mall) 4313 La Jolla Village DR, Suite 3270, San Diego, CA 92122 Contact: Email: info@gyminnykidslajolla.com Website: www.GyminnyKids.com Socials: Facebook / YouTube / Instagram About Gyminny Kids Gyminny Kids is a family-owned gymnastics organization founded in 1987 in San Diego, California. With a mission of "fun and fitness for all ages," Gyminny Kids combines athletic excellence, emotional development, and character-building in a safe, fun, and inclusive environment. The company currently operates five locations throughout San Diego County and is recognized nationally as a model for community-based youth development. Unlike most children's activity centers that rely on short-term or seasonal staffing, Gyminny Kids is built on a team of career professionals—dedicated coaches, office associates, and managers who have made youth development their life's work. Many team members have been with the company for five to ten years, and three employees have served for over thirty years. This level of retention is virtually unheard of in the industry. It is a major reason families experience such consistent excellence, warmth, and care the moment they enter. For more info on Gyminny Kids programs or to register early for the UTC Founder's Club, please visit gyminnykids.com/lajolla! This free event is open to the community, but please RSVP by emailing info@gyminnykidslajolla.com with the number of attendees and the 30-minute time frame you would like to attend within the 1-5 p.m. time slot. Thank you.
