Ride the hidden, unridden, and forbidden San Diego to support pancreatic cancer research! Cycle through scenic areas of San Diego on November 8th to support pancreatic cancer research in the 12th Annual Jim Krause Memorial Charity Cycling Ride the Point. The ride starts and ends at Liberty Station and includes exclusive routes through Point Loma, Ocean Beach, Mission Bay La Jolla, Torrey Pines, and Sorrento Valley. This ride takes participants through historic neighborhoods and past some of the most scenic areas of San Diego, some that are only open once a year for this event. The event has hundreds of volunteers along the route, SAG, and five fully stocked rest stops to support the riders. Ride the Point has three distances to accommodate diverse levels of cycling experience. The 5-mile Family Fun Ride is a relatively flat course on bike paths along beautiful San Diego Bay and is perfect for cruisers, beginning riders, challenged athletes, and families. The 25 and Metric Century are street rides with exclusive routes and challenging climbs around scenic San Diego. This is a boutique ride limited to 600 riders to ensure an unforgettable experience. Start off your Independence Day celebration a day early by bringing a beach chair and the whole family to enjoy Oceanside Fireworks Show. The City of Oceanside will host an incredible fireworks display on Monday, July 3, 2025, at SoCal Soccer Complex at El Corazon. Fireworks will begin at 9 p.m. There will be food available onsite beginning at 5:30 p.m. This year’s event will feature live entertainment, a family fun zone with inflatables, a picnic area, and food vendors. The SoCal Soccer Complex at El Corazon is located at 3300 El Corazon Drive. Parking will be available at the SoCal lot for $12 per car and free parking will be available at the adjacent Ocean Ranch Business Park. RV’s and buses are not permitted. The Heritage of the Americas Museum is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with a series of special Saturday events designed to engage visitors of all ages. Each Saturday features interactive cultural activities, including live Alpacas, Live Latin American snakes, traditional music and dance performances, hands-on art and craft workshops, and storytelling sessions highlighting the rich histories and contributions of Hispanic and Latinx communities. Throughout the month, guests can explore curated exhibits (including "The Lemon Grove Incident" an important desegregation movement in US History), participate in family-friendly scavenger hunts, and meet local artists and educators to learn more about heritage and traditions. The events create an immersive and educational experience, fostering community connection and a deeper appreciation for the diverse cultures represented throughout the Americas. Saturday, June 7, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Join us in the woodshop for this 4-hour brush making workshop! We will cover shop safety and how to use various machines such as the bandsaw, spindle sander, edge sander, and drill press. You will hone your carving skills by adding curves and texture to your piece. We will build upon machine knowledge and cover wood shaping using various hand tools such as rasps, files, spoke shaves, hand planes, chisels, and gouges. We will also discuss design principles, functional applications, the properties of wood, and brush materials such as Tampico fibers. At the end of the workshop, each student will leave with a unique brush to be used in the home, the shop, or as a beautiful sculpture or gift. Materials are provided. We recommend students bring their own eye protection, ear protection & apron. Aprons for sale here. No experience necessary. Ages 18+ welcome.
