  • Learn to Warp & Weave! Saturday, September 20, from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. (1 hour lunch) Learn the ancient fiber craft of weaving your own fabric using a Rigid Heddle Loom and natural fibers. In his hands-on workshop, Weaver & Dyer Jeanine Ertl will teach you everything you need to know to warp and weave on your own. This class is perfect for anyone who’s been curious about weaving beyond a lap loom and wants to learn the warping and weaving processes. We’ll dive into fiber & fabric and demystify the process of getting set up (otherwise known as warping a loom), weaving, and finally, finishing and removing a woven fiber good from the loom! And, you’ll go home with handwoven fabric in-hand. Length of the final piece will depend on the individual’s own pace. In this workshop you’ll learn how: a rigid heddle loom works; to plan a textile (e.g. sett, basic pattern & choosing fiber, etc.); to warp a rigid heddle; to weave; to remove your handwoven; and to finish a textile.   • Tuesdays, September 9, 16, 23, from 6-8 p.m. Absolute Beginner Crochet: Getting Started! In this crochet workshop, students will learn the fundamental skills of crochet, including starting a project, basic stitches like single crochet (sc), half double crochet (hdc), double crochet (dc), chain (ch) magic circle, and tying off. This three-week course will allow students to learn and practice the basics in-studio, practice at home, and then return with their questions and learn more. No experience necessary. Students are welcome to bring their own yarn and/or hook, but it is not necessary. We will be using size 4 yarn and between 4.00mm and 6.00mm crochet hooks. You don’t have to bring your own supplies but you are welcome to. All materials included.   • Create your own unique Sushi Set! Saturdays, September 13, 20, October 4, from 2-4 p.m. Join in for a relaxing and creative clay session where you’ll make your very own ceramic sushi set from scratch! In this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll learn essential handbuilding techniques like slab construction and pinching to create a beautiful, functional trio: ● A slab-built sushi platter ● A matching chopstick rest ● A pinched dip bowl for soy sauce, pickles, or wasabi You’ll shape, texture, and personalize your pieces during the initial two 2-hour classes. Your pieces will then be dried and bisque fired. You’ll then return two weeks later for a glazing session to add food-safe finishes and bring your work to life. Projects will be ready to pick up 3-4 weeks after the last class. We recommend that each student bring an apron to wear and an older towel or a cloth rag. All materials provided.   • Create your own ceramic jewelry! Mondays, September 15, 22, 29, October 13 & 20, from 6-8:30 p.m. No class on October 6. Ages 15+ welcome! In this 5-week series, students will learn the basics of handbuilding to create decorative and wearable jewelry pieces with an emphasis on color and texture. Working with mid fire clay, we will explore various methods of building shapes and decorative techniques with colored clay, underglazes, slips, & glaze. Students will complete multiple projects throughout the course with an artistic and creative approach to decorative designs. The course will go over methods to create texture & patterns for small items such as beads, pendants, earrings, and trinket dishes. Students will be able to utilize a wide array of findings, tools, and materials for building and decoration. Students will create pieces in the first 3 classes, we will glaze items on the 4th class, the last class we will put together and complete all of our jewelry with findings etc. The instructor will have additional decorative materials for sale such as findings and colored clays and slips. Projects will be ready to pick up 3-4 weeks after the last class. All materials provided. In this 5-week series, students create functional pieces with an emphasis on decorative techniques for surface design. We will explore colorful marbling techniques and mocha diffusion, in addition to marbling with slips and glazes. Working with mid fire clay, students will complete multiple projects and will be able to utilize a wide array of glazes and colors throughout the course. Beginning and more advanced students will learn the basics of handbuilding to create pieces that we’ll utilize the skills on that we explore in class.   • Sunday, September 7, from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. This beginner 3-hour woodworking workshop will acquaint students with a woodturning lathe, its parts, the tools needed, safety tips, tool sharpening techniques and how to shape wood on a lathe. The class will consist of students learning to round a piece of square stock, learning the four basic cuts and turning a honey dipper as their take home project. This class is appropriate for ages 16 years and older.
