  • The Super Dentists host back-to-school bash at their new Escondido location with a carnival theme, Saturday, Aug. 12 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. The day will start with free dental visits from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. for kindergarten and first grade health and dental screenings. The back-to-school carnival will include games, live music, Escondido's Got Talent performers, local entertainment, big prizes, bubbles, face painting, movie premiere and more. The morning will also start with complimentary basic dental care to children in need. The Super Dentists hope to see and treat more than 100 kids.   • This year’s Kook Run will be Sunday, Feb. 11 at 7 a.m. Both a fun run and a professional race, The Kook Run is a SoCal Super Bowl Sunday tradition, where thousands kick off the morning with a 5K/10K fun run and costumed race along the Pacific Coast, presented by BUBS Naturals. The 10K race is the fastest on the west coast and will again be made up of an international field of runners, as well as the top runners in Southern California. In 2024, all will be racing for a cash purse of $3,000 on the most picturesque 10K course on the West Coast. The Costume Contest is one of the most entertaining aspects of the event. The contest awards the top three in each of the following categories: “Football Fan,” “Group Costume,” and “Individual Kook.”

  • Walk with Us to Cure Lupus is the Lupus Research Alliance’s signature national fundraising program devoted to finding a cure for lupus. This event will include inspiring speakers, light grab & go refreshments during the walk, a t-shirt contest, and a variety of activity booths. FREE to participate in this event, but DONATIONS are appreciated. 100% of all donations go directly to lupus research programs. Lupus is a chronic and complex autoimmune disease that affects millions of people worldwide. More than 90 percent of people with lupus are women, and lupus disproportionately affects women of color.
