Join us for San Diego Central Library's Fantastical Fiction Forum, where we discuss fantasy, horror, and science fiction in a friendly, inclusive group! Our July discussion book is “Embassytown,” by China Miéville. Our next meeting is on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. This hybrid program allows for virtual and in-person attendance. This year’s TeenVersionary program shares its theme with San Diego Pride: "REVOLUTION: Unbreakable Pride, Unshakeable Power." We are calling all LGBTQIA+ teens and allied teens to collaborate on a new piece of theatre. We will explore queer themes and issues specifically illuminating youth experiences within the LGBTQIA+ diaspora. This new piece of theatre infuses queer youth experience shared by participants with movement, music and more. This show will be performed as part of the 2025 San Diego Pride Festival. Books Thru Bars is an extension of Groundwork Books; a leftist, non-hierarchical, non-profit, workers’ cooperative located at UCSD. Our littlest visitors and their families are invited to explore toddler-centered folk art, craft, and design! On July 18, we'll meet outside by the Nikigator where we'll explore the art of camouflage by reading "Hide and Snake" by Keith Baker, a story that shows just how good snakes are at hiding. After the story, we will create our own colorful snakes and find creative ways to hide them. Mini Mingei is perfect for parents, grandparents, and caregivers with children ages 2–5.
