  • Ned Rorem would have been 100 this fall, and his fourth quartet is based on impressions from a collection of Picasso’s paintings (“sort of,” in the composer’s words). How do other art forms influence and inform each other? How can our dialogue with masterpieces of the past be shared in our performances today? This collection of works on its own can’t possibly answer these questions, but may pose some of its own… Program to include: Haydn – Quartet No. 39 in F♯ minor, Op. 50, No. 4 (1787) Ravel – Quartet (1903) Ned Rorem – Quartet No. 4 (1995)

  • Intimate narratives in English by South Asian artists Inspired by Eve Ensler's "The Vagina Monologues" Visit: www.ahaana.org and book your seats today! "YKB," Act I - a South Asian adaptation of "The Vagina Monologues," is the main and featured program of Ahaana. It's a nationally recognized and a growing collection of authentic, bold, powerful and poignant stories, written and performed by South Asian women. YKB has evolved into a life of its own, nurturing a unique space of love, trust and sharing, while simultaneously building community among local South Asian women. Each year the YKB narratives shatters the silence around subjects like domestic violence, single motherhood, self identity, sexual abuse and much more with the South Asian socio-cultural context, whether in native lands or in adopted homelands. The powerful monologues are captivating in their intensity, their raw messages questioning societal norms, judgments and prejudices. Hear their story! "MenOlogues" Act II - A ground-breaking launch at the 2017 Ahaana Festival, was received with amazing support and appreciation! "MenOlogues" (men performing monologues...get it???) was conceived and created by the founder & director of Ahaana. Her vision of introducing men and their stories to the monologue type of writing and performing, in the same style as YKB, but with a more casual and comfortable approach. Why create the space for men? Well, men should also be able to emote about their poignant experiences! Ahaana is proud to be blazing a trail with vision of spreading this movement and with hopes that the audience will be awe-inspired! Brilliant title, wouldn't you agree? Hear the other side! About "Resurrection Walk" | Defense attorney Mickey Haller is back, taking the long-shot cases, where the chances of winning are one in a million. After getting a wrongfully convicted man out of prison, he is inundated with pleas from incarcerated people claiming innocence. He enlists his half brother, retired LAPD Detective Harry Bosch, to weed through the letters, knowing most claims will be false. Bosch pulls a needle from the haystack: a woman in prison for killing her husband, a sheriff's deputy, but who still maintains her innocence. Bosch reviews the case and sees elements that don't add up, and a sheriff's department intent on bringing quick justice in the killing of one of its own. Now Haller has an uphill battle in court, a David fighting Goliaths to vindicate his client. The path for both lawyer and investigator is fraught with danger from those who don't want the case reopened and will stop at nothing to keep the Haller-Bosch dream team from finding the truth. Packed with intrigue and courtroom drama, Resurrection Walk shows once again that Michael Connelly is "the most consistently superior living crime fiction author" (South Florida Sun Sentinel). Michael Connelly is the author of 38 previous novels, including #1 New York Times bestsellers Desert Star, The Dark Hours, and The Law of Innocence. His books, which include the Harry Bosch series, the Lincoln Lawyer series, and the Renée Ballard series, have sold more than 85 million copies worldwide. Connelly is a former newspaper reporter who has won numerous awards for his journalism and his novels. He is the executive producer of three television series: Bosch; Bosch: Legacy; and The Lincoln Lawyer. He spends his time in California and Florida.
