The program will begin with an educator-led tour of the exhibition, offering close-looking opportunities and conversation to deepen engagement with Iturbide’s work. During this workshop, participants will create one-of-a-kind handmade books using natural materials such as dried leaves, shells, and wood. Guided by museum educators, you will explore simple bookmaking techniques while considering how organic forms, textures, and found elements can hold memory and meaning. The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities’ (HACU) 40th Annual Conference provides a unique forum for showcasing the best and most promising practices in higher education and at Hispanic-Serving Institutions. The three-day annual national event, under the theme “40 Years of Championing Higher Education Success: One Graduate at a Time,” features keynote speakers, discussion panels, an international plenary and a Town Hall. Pre-conference events focus on topics such as higher education leadership, PreK-12 collaborations, and special issues of interest for deans and senior administrators. In conjunction with the conference, HACU’s ¡Adelante! Leadership Institute offers a student track for undergraduates with workshops focused on career and leadership development.
