  • Located above the Flower Fields, ArtWalk Carlsbad is back for its 4th year, bringing fine art, live music, and interactive art experiences, offered for free to attendees. The weekend-long festival focuses on fine art for sale by artists, who travel from all over the U.S. and Mexico to show and sell their work. In a venue overlooking the ocean, guests can explore different facets of art, while enjoying beautiful coastal views, Saturday, Sept. 9 and Sunday, Sept. 10, 2023. The festival will display every medium of art, including painting, sculpture, glass work, fine jewelry, photography and more. More than 150 fine artists’ work will be featured, along with interactive art for families at KidsWalk, a full palette of musical performers, food trucks and stands, and more. More information here.

  • Food served on the Spanish Lawn Program is a traditional “Paella” with chicken, seasoned rice, vegetables and seafood. The paella is cooked in a huge pan called paellera that are traditionally round, shallow and made of polished steel with two handles. Paellas were traditionally served in Valencia during outings in the countryside. Lemonade is usually served that day. During this workshop, you will learn simple tools to help you estimate the retail value of a piece of art. The workshop will take place in a relaxed open classroom setting, and you are welcome to drop by anytime between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. If you have a small artwork that you can carry safely on your own, you even have the option to bring it with you. Please note that Ms. Arredondo will be focusing on teaching you how to explore and understand your artwork, rather than providing formal appraisals.   • New exhibit now open: "The Science of Surfing" On display through April 2024 “The Science of Surfing,” featuring the wave art of Phil Roberts, is an eye-opening fun and informative journey exploring the many surprising connections between science, its applications, and the advancement of modern surfing. This new multi-media exhibit is designed to engage all visitors, regardless of their familiarity with surfing. This educational display was created to comply STEAM concepts (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics).   • Spring is in the air bringing a new season fresh with possibilities. For our spring concert, Kearny Mesa Concert Band will present a wide range of musical selections that will bring out the best in our emotions, filling the audience with a renewed sense of joy, sorrow, and hope for brighter days ahead. Selections will include an impressive song written the romantic style by Rossano Galante, music from the motion picture Saving Private Ryan by film composer John Williams, and a piece composed in memory of those who lost their lives at Columbine High School by Frank Ticheli, plus many more. About Kearny Mesa Concert Band Founded in 1972, the Kearny Mesa Concert Band is the longest continuously playing community band in San Diego County.
