  • Learn to edit Wikipedia pages and contribute to making knowledge more accessible! Join us in editing and writing Wikipedia articles. All experience levels are welcome. It is highly recommended that participants create a Wikipedia account ahead of time. This month, we will be editing articles themed around Black history. Please register, light refreshment will be provided! The San Diego Wikimedians User Group, an affiliate of the Wikimedia Foundation, will be giving a short tutorial on getting started with Wiki editing. Afterwards, we will begin editing! As an integral part of the San Diego Music Society, Logos and its musicians have since concertized throughout San Diego County in La Jolla, San Marcos, Encinitas, Coronado, and Escondido, connecting a wide range of audiences to the masterpieces they perform with historical anecdotes and enriching stories that make their concerts more of an intimate musical encounter.   • San Diego, May 10, 2023 - The San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts (SDSCPA) invites the public to attend its Sapphire Anniversary Benefit on June 17 at Humphrey's by the Bay to celebrate 45 years of excellence in arts education. The semi-formal event includes a three-course meal, drinks, live musical performances by the students of SDSCPA, dancing, and a silent and live auction. Tickets are available for purchase on the Friends of SCPA (FOSCPA) website at $180 per person, $1,800 for tables seating ten in prime locations, and $2,800 for VIP corporate sponsorship tables. Proceeds from the benefit will directly support continued arts education at SDSCPA. This year's event promises to be a memorable and inspiring evening, showcasing the incredible talent of SDSCPA students, and paying tribute to two of SDSCPA's most beloved former faculty members, Judi Quiett and Gail McKinney, who have been instrumental in shaping the school's legacy of excellence in arts education. This event is an opportunity to come together to support the next generation of artists and creative thinkers and to celebrate the impact that SDSCPA has had on the lives of students and the broader community.   • 4 Tuesdays each month from 4 – 5:30 p.m. Ages 6-12 years welcome! Instructor Lydia Kardos teaches this 4-week introductory ceramic hand-building series. Students will create functional and nonfunctional ceramic art using a variety of techniques and their imaginations. Learn how to create with coils, slab construction and clay pinching methods. See the beauty of the final results as your pieces come out of the kiln. Students will create multiple pieces and learn how to glaze finished artwork. All materials included.   • Join us for our final Summer Hours on Thursday, August 31, featuring a DJ set by Jackie & Laura at 6 p.m. Admission to the DJ set in Art Park is free. Born and raised in the border towns of Tijuana and San Diego, Laura and Jackie take inspiration from the culture clash and fusion of music scenes on both sides. Jackie Mendoza is a singer and producer who makes whimsical and intimate electro pop. Laura Gonzalez is a musician and software engineer inspired by the complex layers of shoegaze and dream pop.   • ARTIST INFORMATION: The San Diego Gulls will host 14 different Western Conference opponents at Pechanga Arena as part of their 2023-24 schedule. The club will play 48 games against the Pacific Division’s other nine teams and 20 inter-conference contests against five clubs from the Central Division. In addition, the Gulls will play a home-and-home series with the Eastern Conference’s Charlotte Checkers for the first time since San Diego’s inaugural 2015-16 season. The Gulls will have 26 home weekend dates, including 12 Friday and 12 Saturday games, and two Sunday contests. New to the schedule this season, San Diego will play all Saturday games starting a 6 p.m. PT. The Gulls will also play 18 sets of back-to-back games throughout the 2023-24 campaign.
