The California Police Athletic Federation, a dedicated non-profit organization promoting sports and physical fitness among first responders, is excited to announce the 2026 United States Police and Fire Championships (USPFC). Making its return to San Diego for the 59th year, this premier multi-sport event, taking place from Saturday, June 13 through Saturday, June 20, 2026, celebrates camaraderie, sportsmanship, and community pride through spirited competition, bringing together first responders from across the nation. For the second year, the beautiful Marriott San Diego Mission Valley will be hosting athletes and many of the popular competitions. Offering a variety of Olympic-style competitions, the USPFC features more than 35 different events ranging from team sports like basketball and soccer to individual competitions such as track and field, swimming, and CrossFit®. The annual games draw thousands of athletes from law enforcement, firefighters, emergency medical technicians, custom and correctional officers, and more. The community is invited to come out and watch any of the sporting events taking place throughout the games for free and cheer on the competing athletes. With her friend Anna Nemzer, a talk show host at TV Rain, Russia’s last remaining independent news channel, Loktev brings us into a community of sharp, warm and funny young women speaking truth to power as they face increasing threats. Loktev filmed in Moscow during the first week of the full-scale invasion, as the journalists tried to counter Russian propaganda and report the truth on the war, until all independent media was shut down and they were forced to flee the country. This event will feature a discussion between alumni Robert Brill '88 and Al-e McWhorter '18 as they discuss their career experiences, share insight and answer questions from the audience. Al-e McWhorter '18 is a production designer and art director whose career bridges film, visual media, and world-building. A UC San Diego Visual Arts alum and AFI-trained production designer, she’s worked with Industrial Light & Magic and major brands like Coca-Cola and Honda. Al-e recently led art direction for "The Musical," featured at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival. Sudan Archives (Brittney Parks) is a violinist, singer, and producer who blends violin/fiddle traditions with contemporary Black underground music, which she calls Orchestral Black Dance Music. Her third album, "THE BPM," embraces themes of self-will, rhythm as power, technology, romance, mental illness, and self-love. It was Executive Produced by Parks with Ben Dickey, alongside Eric Terhune, James McCall IV, her twin sister, touring band, Detroit cousins, and others. A retired professor and art lover leads a solitary life in his abode in Rome. Countess Bianca Brumonti insists on renting a floor of his mansion. He agrees in exchange for a unique painting that he wants for his collection. The arrival of the countess’ eccentric family turns his quiet life upside down. In the wake of the race riots of 1968, Frederick Wiseman trains his quiet, unobtrusive cameras on the Kansas City, Mo., police department throughout their everyday routines as they work. Though the police force is mostly Caucasian — and the suspects are mostly African-American — Wiseman refuses to oversimplify the intricate relationship between the two groups as he documents the former’s complicated yet essential role in the criminal justice system. "Law and Order" surveys the wide range of work the police are asked to perform: enforcing the law, maintaining order, and providing general social services. The incidents shown illustrate how training, community expectations, socio-economic status of the subject, the threat of violence, and discretion affect police behavior. "Law and Order" won an Emmy Award as the Best News Documentary in 1969.
