  • Two Rooms Gallery, a new art space in Bird Rock/La Jolla area, opens its next exhibition, "Without Love in the Dream It'll Never Come True," featuring the work of Becca Ford and Tessie Salcido Whitmore. Both Ford and Sacido Whitmore make sculptural, mixed-media works. Salcido Whitmore has a series of found-object assemblages, and Ford's contributions include some of her "portal" works.   • Celebrate Chanukkah at Yiddishland with Yale Strom and his book reading of “Shoyml Boyml and his Lucky Dreidl.” Yale will talk about his career as a researcher, movie maker, and an author. He will be reading excerpts of the book in English and a bisele af Yiddish, and playing some Chanukkah music. We will have festive nosh and mashke. Speaker: Yale Strom is one of the world’s leading ethnographer-artists of klezmer and Roma music and history. He has conducted extensive ethnographic research throughout Eastern Europe since 1981, made nine documentary films, written twelve books, and has had numerous photo exhibitions throughout the world. He has also composed for theatre, film, radio, television and symphony orchestras. His band, Yale Strom & Hot Pstromi, has made fifteen recordings ranging from traditional klezmer to “new” Jewish jazz. He is currently artist-in-residence/professor in the Jewish Studies Program at San Diego State University.
