Earlier during the 15th century, the Bellini dynasty led by Jacopo and his sons Gentile and Giovanni ushered in the modern era of Venetian Renaissance painting. For example, the artist Bartolomeo Veneto whose painting, Portrait of a Lady in a Green Dress, which is part of the Timken Museum collection, studied under Gentile Bellini. In addition the idea of rivalry among artists such as Raphael and Michelangelo assisted in their growth as incomparable geniuses. While not a student teacher relationship, studying each other's creations led to their strength as International superstars.
