Roger Deakins will share insights into his acclaimed cinematography and the art of visual storytelling, drawing from decades of landmark films, and will offer an early release of his book "Reflections." Landscape Painting: Problem Solving and Critique Pat Kelly Saturday, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. November 1 (1 day, 4 total hours of instruction) La Jolla Studio $100/$120 This discussion-only workshop will help students improve their landscape painting by learning how to solve problems and critique their own work. For more experienced painters, it is an opportunity for discussion and a springboard for developing a personal style. We will look at student landscape paintings two ways: - Virtual: Students submit a digital image of one of their landscape paintings before the workshop. - Real Time: Students also bring the painting to the workshop for critique. You will have an opportunity to ask questions about your work and learn how to self-critique. Pat will critique with live digital examples using submitted images. The digital format is especially valuable for demonstrating corrections, visualizing suggestions, and generating discussion. The original and best ballpark golf experience features a new 9-hole course that will celebrate Halloween as golfers are transported through a spooky Haunted Golf Trail within the ballpark. Inside SDPD is a dynamic, behind-the-scenes experience that allows community members to walk in the shoes of a police officer for just a few hours. Led by San Diego police officers, you will have the unique opportunity to participate in de-escalation, use-of-force, vehicle stops, and simulated firearms training activities. You'll also see the K9 unit in action and experience first-hand what it's like to be a cop.
