  • Every Sunday starting March 12, 2023 Boarding at 11:30 a.m. Ship returns to Maritime Museum docks at 4 p.m. The Californian Tall Ship Adventure is a four-hour experience aboard the official tall ship of the state of California. Guests will sail aboard a replica of a gold rush era revenue cutter and learn of the history of sailing and exploration in San Diego, tales of whaling and sea otter trade, local sea battles, the art of the ship’s gunnery, and life at sea. Passengers may join the crew in trimming sails or sit back and watch the crew scamper up and down the traditionally rigged state symbol. Ticket price: $69 - $119 per person. This four-hour sailing adventure also includes general admission to explore all Museum ships and dozens of exhibits and galleries. Self-guided tours can be taken starting at 10 a.m. before the sailing departure or after 4 p.m. when she returns.   • San Diego Botanic Garden (SDBG) hosts its third annual spring orchid showcase, World of Orchids, running Saturday, March 11 through Sunday, April 9, 2023. The exhibition will be staged in the state-of-the-art, 8,000 square foot, glass-enclosed facility, the Dickinson Family Education Conservatory, by SDBG’s highly awarded Artist-in-Residence, René van Rems, AIFD, who serves as Creative Director for the exhibit for the third year in a row. The floral designs will feature impressive orchid specimens, locally bred hybrids, and rare species plants displayed in unique and unexpected ways. In addition to the many orchids that typically grow in the Garden’s Conservatory, displays will include plants on loan from private growers belonging to two local groups, the San Diego County Orchid Society (SDCOS) and the Palomar Orchid Society, as well as orchids and materials from local businesses. On select days during the exhibition, vendors will offer unusual and unique orchids and merchandise for sale.
