Little Fish Comic Book Studio: Fostering awareness and education for the comic arts As a nonprofit educational corporation serving the San Diego region, Little Fish Comic Book Studio is dedicated to developing an appreciation of the comic art form through classes and camps directed to students of all ages and creeds, while through community partnerships and local events making an impact on the education of the public at large. Our goals are to educate students using the standards of a traditional art school and the comic book industry with the passion and the openness of a relaxed studio environment. Little Fish aims to give each student, regardless of their prior educational backgrounds, age or identity, a realistic, working understanding of what it takes to be a professional comic creator, all while giving them the catered instruction designed to better them as individual artists at a pace that works best for them. This series is part of One Book, One San Diego program: One Book, One San Diego is our region's premier literary program, presented in partnership between KPBS and over 80 public libraries, service organizations and educational institutions. Now in its 16th year, the purpose is to bring our community closer together through the shared experience of reading and discussing the same book.   • Art Scene West Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of works by varied artists. Mediums include canvases, sculpture and wearable art. Mark Lurie is a multi-talented San Diego County artist who is skilled in creating marble sculpture,wearable art creations and in painting artistic canvases. He grew up in a family of artists. In his early years of artistic education and exploration of the world, Mark trained as a sculptor in Indonesia. In more recent years he has visited the fabled Carrara marble quarries in Italy and the marble quarries in Bandung, Java to select the finest marble for some of his own marble sculpture artworks. Mark is exhibiting sculpture work and wearable art in the Creative Artists Showcase. This exhibition is representative of a fresh energy and excitement in the Solana Beach Design District, where Art Scene West Gallery is promoting local art creation and collaboration. Influenced by the likes of chris brown, al green, bruno mars, and babyface, the harbor city native has always had a deep love of music. The decades-long prosperity came to a sudden halt in the summer of 1921 when white Oklahomans attacked Greenwood’s businesses and residents, wiping out the community in a deadly, three-day massacre.
