  • A virtual presentation The Museum of Photographic Arts (MOPA) is hosting its 13th annual Human Rights Watch Film Festival from February 2 to 9. The Human Rights Watch Film Festival will feature critically acclaimed films on topics including child care and education, environmental protection, gender equity, trans and Indigenous rights, women’s rights and more. On February 7, MOPA will feature a special screening of "And Still I Sing" by Fazil Amiri. Afghan Star, a popular national televised singing contest has never had a female winner. Tonight's reception and Q&A will feature Fazila Amiri, the director, and Fereshta Abbasi, researcher in the Asia division at Human Rights Watch and film participants.   • Second Chance Beer Company is celebrating its eighth anniversary with a beer-and-wine pairing dinner event on Saturday, September 9 at 6 p.m. The three-course meal features selections from famed O’Brien's Pub Executive Chef Tyson Blake, wine from Mia Marie Vineyards, and beer from the “Seize a Pint, Save a Pup” brewery that was founded by the husband-and-wife team of Marty Mendiola and Virginia Morrison. Second Chance has collaborated with San Clemente’s Artifex Brewing Company for an anniversary beer that will be released that day, a modern West Coast IPA called Dawg Daze. It opened during San Diego Design Week in late September and remains on view at Art Produce through Nov. 12, 2022.
