  • Calling all budding young artists! EC Gallery is holding a Kids Art Contest Saturday, Sept 10 from 11:00am – 5:00pm. All kids from 5 – 12 are eligible to enter the contest. This is your opportunity to get in front of some amazing artists to hone your skills and see how you compare to the professionals. Participants will choose from three paintings they would like to emulate. The kid who most closely replicates the painting in their individual age group will receive a winner certificate as well as a wonderful Pop Dog art piece. There will also be an overall winner who will receive the grand prize of having their painting professionally framed and hung in the gallery for a full month. In addition, they will get a gift basket of art supplies worth $250. The artists' pieces to be emulated will be Gloria Lee, Michael Flohr, and Danny Ryan who will also be judging the contest. Luger is a recipient of a 2021 United States Artists Fellowship Award for Craft and was named a 2021 GRIST Fixer, he is a 2020 Creative Capital Fellow, a 2020 Smithsonian Artist Research Fellow, and the recipient of the Museum of Arts and Design’s 2018 inaugural Burke Prize, among others.
