Guest instructors teach this month-long series full of hands-on, engaging crafts using STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) to teach hand skills to kids using safe materials. Each project teaches craftsmanship, dexterity and material exploration. Projects range from woodworking, sewing, ceramics, paper crafts, textiles to fusing glass. All ages welcome! Children under age 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Instructor Hayley Haspel-Winick will show you how to recycle and reuse paper in a creative and joyful way. Come make holiday paper or paper sculptures! Art paper such as this is made from paper scraps and natural dye along with small decorative or meaningful items to sprinkle on your paper — petals from your favorite flower, seeds, leaves, yarns, fibers, or even a note with a word that holds significance to you. This workshop is meant for you to create your own special creation out of ordinary paper you might otherwise throw away. This is an excellent workshop to do with a child. Indie films offer diverse choices on screen

On Saturday, Aug. 13, ESCO Alley Art will unveil 15+ additional pieces that will be showcased in the alley south of Grand Avenue between Broadway and Kalmia. The project coincides with Escondido’s monthly “2nd Saturday Art Walk,” celebrating Escondido’s vibrant arts and culture. This is an interactive 3-hour specialty workshop and is $69 for 1 adult and 1 child. This event will start with a DIY workshop to make your choice of Youth Apron, just in time for all your holiday baking (or just cookie snacking)! Then you will have a cookie decorating lesson from Jennifer of Rx: cookies. Learn techniques, tips, and tricks from our local cookie artist. Take home your DIY project, 6 decorated cookies, and some sweet knowledge on this tasty skill! Registration fee includes your DIY project and cookie decorating instructions.
