The San Diego Watercolor Society proudly presents “Grey Matters, an Art Exhibition,” juried by award-winning artist, Drew Bandish. EVERYDAY DANCES II brings together nine of San Diego’s most talented choreographers, creating a show of remarkable artistic depth and variety. Collectively, the ten short dance works embody the spirit of ‘Mingei,’ – or ‘art of the people.’ Performances will take place at Mingei International Museum October 7 – 9 and at Malashock Dance Studio Theater October 21 – 23. Throughout history, women have used knowledge of herbs, moon cycles, and connections to nature for medicine, cooking, midwifery, and spiritual practices. Unfortunately, women, mostly indigenous, non-Christian, or non-white women, have had these home remedies and practices weaponized against them with false accusations of witchcraft and harm to society. Participants in this class will learn about herbs and make their own herbal candles. The activity will allow individuals to learn about herbal properties and personalize their candles by anointing them with herbs.
