  • Pat Benatar's staggering vocals and take-no-prisoners attitude, along with Neil Giraldo's trailblazing artistry as a guitarist, producer and songwriter, forged the undeniable chemistry and unique sound that created some of Rock's most memorable hits, including "We Belong," "Invincible," "Love Is A Battlefield," "Promises In The Dark," "We Live For Love," "Heartbreaker" and "Hell Is For Children." Together they have created two multi-platinum, five platinum, and three gold albums and achieved nineteen Top 40 hits. They have sold over thirty million records worldwide and have won an unprecedented four consecutive GRAMMY® awards. Their rock and roll love affair has endured for more than three and a half decades. Pat and Neil continue to tour, selling out concerts everywhere. Opening the show is Chris Trapper, who The Huffington Post deemed "a brilliantly gifted songwriter," and whose work The New York Times has called "classic pop perfection." His most recent full-length album, Cold Water Waltz, offers a mostly stripped-down affair, focusing squarely on Trapper's achingly honest lyrics, honeyed tenor and delicate fingerpicking. • From Craig Martin, Founder and Music Director of Classic Albums Live: Led Zeppelin really do sound like the hammer of the gods… at first listen it’s the guitar riffs that grab you. Then the drums. Then the honey-sweet voice of Robert Plant. What’s funny is that after years of listening and dissecting the album, it’s the bass guitar that I’m now drawn to. Led Zeppelin II has it all: drum solos, guitar solos, lemons! I get emails from people telling me that their kids were conceived to this record! Perhaps that’s the ultimate compliment you can pay to an album! Zep fans are unrelenting in their love for the band. Many people don’t realize that during the ‘70s no other band or artist came close to selling as many albums as Led Zeppelin. At the time the critics were panning them and making fun of them, but the people spoke. They bought the albums and went to the concerts. The nerdy naysayers were left licking their wounds. Led Zeppelin were the people’s band, and Led Zeppelin II was their call to arms. Every rock musician who picks up an instrument gravitates toward Zep. Every musician says they can play Zep but most can’t. There’s an undefinable quality to their music. Once every couple of months, I stay up all night and comb the internet for bands that can play Led Zeppelin better than CAL… I never find anyone that comes close. I have put together the greatest Led Zeppelin band in the world. I can’t believe my luck; I get to rock out with an audience of like-minded people. I can’t think of anything better than being in a beautiful communal setting and reveling in one of the greatest albums ever made. “Thanks to you I’m much obliged – for such a pleasant stay” Note: the San Diego Symphony does not appear on this program.

  • For more than two decades, the Grammy® and Academy Award-nominated rock band Counting Crows have enchanted listeners worldwide with their intensely soulful and intricate take on timeless rock & roll. Exploding onto the music scene in 1993 with their multi-platinum breakout album, August and Everything After, the band has gone on to release seven studio albums, selling more than 20 million records worldwide, and is revered as one of the world’s most pre-eminent live touring rock bands. In October 1996, the band's double-platinum sophomore studio album, Recovering the Satellites, debuted at number one and further solidified their growing reputation as one of the leading American alternative rock bands in the world. A follow up to their early success, Counting Crows went on to release "This Desert Life" (1999), "Hard Candy" (2002), "Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings" (2008), "Underwater Sunshine" (Or "What We Did on Our Summer Vacation") (2012), "Echoes of the Outlaw Roadshow" (2013) and "Somewhere Under Wonderland" (2014.) In 2004, Counting Crows recorded the chart-topping “Accidently in Love” for the animated motion picture Shrek 2. The instant success of the track earned them an Academy Award nomination for “Best Original Song” at the 2005 Academy Awards, a Golden Globe nomination for “Best Original Song” and a Grammy® Award nomination for “Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media.” In September 2014, Counting Crows released their critically-acclaimed seventh studio album, Somewhere Under Wonderland, which debuted at No. 10 on the charts and was heralded by The Daily Telegraph as “… the best collection of songs since their debut.” The album consisted of nine sprawling tracks around rich sonic tapestries, which yielded some of the most grandiose yet intimate songs Counting Crows had recorded to date. 2018 marked 25 years since the band's inception and sent Adam Duritz, Jim Bogios, David Bryson, Charlie Gillingham, David Immergluck, Millard Powers and Dan Vickrey back on the road for the “25 YEARS AND COUNTING” tour. In 2021, Counting Crows ranked #8 on Billboards’ “Greatest of All Time: Adult Alternative Artists” 25th anniversary chart. After seven years, Adam Duritz and Counting Crows released Butter Miracle: Suite One in May 2021 to rave reviews. The band also kicked off their first tour since 2018, “The Butter Miracle Tour” in 2021, with sell-out performances across North America and Europe. “The Butter Miracle Tour,” will continue in the Spring of 2023 with dates set in Australia and New Zealand.
