From the organizers: The Sukkot holiday is an ancient Jewish harvest festival reflecting themes of hospitality and the welcoming of strangers; like all the farm’s events, the festival will welcome people of all backgrounds. The community is invited to meet under the sukkah (temporary shelter) for a day filled with live music, food, and activities for all ages. Festivities include farm tours, a Kid Zone, hand-crafted goods made by local Jewish artists, live entertainment, as well as food and drink vendor options for purchase. RSVP here. Join music, art, literary, and dance historian Victoria Martino in a five-week lecture series, celebrating the 150th anniversary of Diaghilev by rediscovering and redefining the scope of his immeasurable influence on modern culture. Who was Sergei Diaghilev? What did he do? Condemned by his own country as the ultimate exemplar of bourgeois decadence and depravity, he was excised from Soviet cultural history. Yet, in the international world of art, music, dance, and theater, he was revered, even idolized, as the greatest impresario of all time. Creator, critic, curator, Diaghilev played all these roles, defining for many the very meaning of contemporary art in the 20th century. In his role as founder and director of the legendary Ballets Russes, Diaghilev commissioned and patronized a veritable lexicon of artists, choreographers, composers, dancers, and designers: from Matisse to Picasso, Fokine to Massine, Debussy to Stravinsky, Nijinsky to Pavlova, Bakst to Chanel. LINGUA FRANCA is a concert of music that asks musical artists from a wide variety of genres, styles, and traditions to consider their relationship to pop music. Batya Macadam-Somer will weave her violin and voice together, presenting an improvised set inspired by songs from some of her favorite pop artists. Dom Cooper will perform recents works for voice, prepared tape, piano, and electronics. Sound artist Joe Cantrell will create soundscapes based on recorded vocal content including a reading of “The Winter of Ending," a poem by his mother, Anita Van Tellingen. These altered vocal sounds will be complimented by live performance on acoustic instruments and obsolete/broken electronics. Julien Cantelm (drums) and Lexi Pulido (voice) will present some of their collaborative explorations of genre-crossing music with influences in Brazilian jazz and popular styles.

The new law is intended to protect same-sex and interracial marriages if the U.S. Supreme Court reverses Obergefell v. Hodges, the 2015 decision legalizing gay marriage nationwide.
