According to the CDC, nearly 19% of new HIV diagnoses in the U.S. are among women, and youth ages 13–24 account for 20% of all new HIV diagnoses. Many of these individuals face unique challenges, including stigma, unstable housing, food insecurity, and limited access to mental health services — all of which can affect their ability to remain in care and achieve viral suppression. Additionally, this year the U.S. has cut more than $450 million from HIV research and proposed eliminating over $1.5 billion in prevention funding—jeopardizing decades of progress and putting thousands at risk of new infections.
