Zolna Yachts is launching Nerissa Sounds, an intimate live music series hosted aboard their 73-foot yacht, to celebrate the season. Created by husband-and-wife team Shari and Amos Zolna, the series is designed to feel like a “secret concert at sea,” with just 49 guests on board for each cruise. The series launches Friday, August 15, from 7 – 9 p.m., with an evening of live Latin jazz, a curated coastal dinner menu, and sunset views during the 2-hour cruise. Limited to just 49 guests, Nerissa Sounds offers a rare opportunity to experience intimate performances by local artists in an elevated setting on the water. The debut event will feature San Diego Music Awards-nominated saxophonist Charlie Arbelaez and his four-piece Latin jazz ensemble. In addition to the live music, guests will enjoy a Champagne toast, curated buffet-style dinner by chef Joann Stabile, and a full cash bar as they cruise past some of San Diego’s most iconic coastal views. Rumors suggest that emissaries from a well-organized galactic force will also be stopping by. This all-ages event blends hands-on fun with a bit of cosmic flair—perfect for families, fans, and curious adventurers alike. Expect surprise appearances from a galaxy far, far away, interactive inflatables and games, and themed food and drinks from North City restaurants. Kids can get creative at the Padawan Crafting Academy, where they’ll build lightsabers and fold origami droids under the guidance of Craft Collective (suggested donation). Adventurers can also take on the Jedi Training Grounds, featuring a bounce house and interactive space-themed games. The North City Cantina will feature galactic-inspired menu items, and guests can pick up a Galactic Passport to collect stamps from participating businesses and enter to win raffle prizes. Another departure from the Kennedy Center: Composer, pianist, educator and bandleader Jason Moran announced on social media that he is no longer the artistic director for jazz. Moran joined the Kennedy Center in 2011.

About the Artists Lexi Pulido is a boundary-pushing vocalist, composer, guitarist, teacher, and more - known for blending experimental jazz, bossa nova, and theatrical alt-pop. Through projects like the avant-jazz quintet Kilikili, the internationally acclaimed Kate Bush tribute band Baby Bushka, and the genre-blurring Nu Moods jam series, she’s helped shape San Diego’s creative music scene while fostering community through her studio space, Tenam Studio. Hailey Wetzel is a folky, soulful, and jazz-tinged songwriter whose music blends heartfelt storytelling with rich, timeless melodies. Inspired by artists like Alice Phoebe Lou, Olivia Dean, and Maggie Rogers, her sound carries an honest warmth and rhythmic ease. After a cross-country move, she’s spent the past two years rooted in San Diego, becoming an active voice in the local music community. With a voice that feels both intimate and expansive, Hailey crafts songs that linger—emotive, melodic, and deeply human. Claire King is a San Diego based singer-songwriter and spoken word performer whose music draws influence from the folk revival of the 1960s and 70s, indie folk, jazz, and soul. Her sound is infused with the characteristics of artists like Jim Croce, Labbi Siffre, the Fleet Foxes, and Norah Jones. With poetic and whimsical lyrics, much of Claire’s music centers around her connection to nature, architecture, and personal experiences in love and mental health.
