  • Hundreds of people will rally to support people living with ALS at the 2025 Walk To Defeat ALS San Diego on October 5 at the Mission Bay - De Anza Cove. Registration for the 2025 Walk to Defeat ALS is now open. Every 90 minutes, someone is diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease affecting nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. ALS robs people of the ability to walk, talk and eventually breathe. Through an extensive network, the ALS Association is on the ground in all 50 states providing support for people living with ALS and their loved ones by ensuring they have access to critical care programs and services. Walk to Defeat ALS is the world’s largest signature event focused on supporting people living with ALS and their families. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the annual Walk to Defeat ALS. Through Walk to Defeat ALS fundraising efforts, the ALS Association has been able to dramatically accelerate the fight against ALS by funding the development of new ALS treatments, by discovering new ALS genes, by creating new global research collaborations, and by significantly expanding access to ALS care. Walk to Defeat ALS events are more than fundraisers - it's a movement that unites the community in support of those affected by ALS. Many who participate have a loved one battling ALS while others participate in memory of a loved one who has lost their fight. Some participate simply because they want to make ALS a livable disease for everyone, everywhere while we tirelessly search for a cure. The 2025 Walk to Defeat ALS is supported by our dedicated national sponsors including Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma America, Numotion Foundation and Permobil Foundation. Their unwavering commitment fuels our mission to make ALS livable and cure it. • ll puns are intended! Competitive punning is a growing, worldwide pasttime, and Pundemonium! is based on the format used by pun contests in other cities, including the O. Henry Pun-Off in Austin, TX, Punderdome in New York, Pun DMV in Washington, D.C, It's Always Punny in Philadelphia, UK Pun-Off in London, and more. Watch, laugh, groan, or join punsters competing to see who is the wizard of wordplay, the dean of dad jokes, the punniest of them all. Competitive punning is a *thing* nationwide, and Pundemonium! is San Diego's home for the war of wordplay. Pundemonium! is a two-part event based on the format used by pun contests in cities such as New York, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Austin, TX, San Francisco, and more. See: https://www.wired.com/2016/09/pun-competitions/ In Part 1, Battle of the PUNdits, participants who have signed up in advance will deliver two-minute pun-filled speeches, and the audience will determine the winner. Part 2, the PUNger Games, is a head-to-head pun-off tournament-style. Think of it as an on-the-spot rap battle with puns. You do not have to participate! You can just watch and PUNder your life choices while you do so.
