Concert Hour is a music enrichment series presented on the campus of Palomar College for our students, staff, and community by the Palomar College Performing Arts Department. Enjoy a range of exciting artists and musicians in the beautiful Howard Brubeck Theatre or Performance Lab D-10. The program is presented weekly during the Fall and Spring Semesters at 1 p.m. and ends at approximately 2 p.m. Admission and Parking are FREE. Highland Way Brian – As the founding member of Highland Way Brian is an enthusiastic and energetic singer and rhythm guitar player. Immersed in Celtic music while growing up in Glasgow, Scotland and having specialized in sound engineering at the prestigious Strathclyde University, Brian hit the road. Now residing in North San Diego County in California, he regularly plays live fronting the five / six piece Highland Way. Brian has successfully lead Highland Way to some of the most prestigious venues in the world, including the largest indoor theater in the USA, the 3000 seat Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield, the Redlands Bowl 5000 seat amphitheater and many others. When not performing, writing or producing under the ‘Highland Way Productions’ label you can find him shooting world class photos, walking his dog or riding waves. Paul – Lead Fiddle / mandolin / banjo/ bass and most anything with strings. Paul’s been playing fiddle and mandolin for over 50 years. Somewhere in that time he also picked up guitar, bass, banjo and keyboards. Paul’s an accomplished song writer and arranger having played with ‘The Chieftains’, ‘The Young Dubliners’, ‘Blended Spirits’, ‘Ken O’ Mally’, and regularly performed in LA’s oldest Irish Pub Molly Malone’s with ‘Garrison White’, and ‘Glen Cornick’, original bass player for ‘Jethro Tull’. Water for People San Diego Committee along with Avista and KSDS Jazz 88.3 are proud to present Jazz on Tap 2025, a charity Jazz concert to support Water For People, a global nonprofit promoting the development of high-quality drinking water and sanitation services. The jazz festival will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at the Quartyard. Doors open at 1:15 p.m., with live music starting at 2 p.m. grooving away until 8 p.m. There will be food, drinks and live high-energy jazz music, highlighting local artists in a fun outdoor setting. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door for $45 each. This celebration is an opportunity for individuals and families of all backgrounds to learn, engage, and connect with the rich American history that shapes our shared future. Together, we can celebrate the strength and unity of our community, while creating a space where all are invited to grow, contribute, and make a difference. It is presented and hosted by Lionel and Natalie Saulsberry of the Couples Unfiltered Podcast/LLC in partnership with Clinton and Renee Huggins of AIM achievementinmotion.org We will host an opening ceremony with an MC, the Black National Anthem, the National Anthem, a Marine Corps Color Guard, a speaker and prayer. Then kick off the event with a DJ, keynote speakers and love music. 25-30 unique vendors from all over North County, San Diego and L.A. will be positioned for your shopping and engagement pleasure. We will be offering a special paid entry ticketed VIP section of the event where we will showcase local Black Executive Chefs from all over the county, serving small bites, as well as providing Zero-Proof Bartending services. The tickets include entry to this VIP section of the event, photo ops and swag bags. Tickets sales will be announced closer to the end of May. The proceeds of the sales will be donated to two local non-profit organizations participating in the event. To foster equity and community, people gather several times a year to sing together in Portland, Oregon. The woman behind this effort has twice been nominated for a Grammy in music education.

Jean Guerrero is a former KPBS reporter with extensive experience covering Latin America. Her KPBS reporting focused on family separations at the border, Trump's wall, deportations, and migrant caravan. Her work was recognized by the San Diego Press Club, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences - Pacific Southwest Chapter, and the Society for Professional Journalists, including "Best Body Of Work" in 2018.

She started her career at the Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones Newswires in Mexico City as a foreign correspondent. She won the PEN/FUSION Emerging Writers Prize in 2016. Her book "Crux: A Cross-Border Memoir" was published in 2018 by One World (Random House).

Jean holds a B.A. in journalism and a minor in neuroscience from the University of Southern California. She also has an MFA degree in creative nonfiction from Goucher College.
