Sunday, Oct. 15, 2023 at 10 p.m. on KPBS 2 / Stream now with the PBS App. An adventure-filled exploration of conservation science, "Bears Of Durango" embeds with a dynamic team of wildlife researchers tasked with conducting a black bear study in Durango, Colorado. In response to an exponential increase in black bear-human conflicts – including bears breaking into cars and homes, and cubs getting trapped in garages – Colorado Parks and Wildlife commissioned a six-year study to determine the factors behind the state-wide trend, and to propose solutions to quell it.

Coronado Public Library, in partnership with the Friends of Coronado Public Library and Warwick's bookstore, will host Nita Prose for an intimate luncheon with the author as well as a signing of her new book, "The Mystery Guest: A Maid Novel". The work of interdisciplinary artist, cultural worker, and educator Andreína Maldonado (aka Nina Limon) is rooted in her experiences as a Venezuelan immigrant, performing artist, and domestic worker. For six years, she has worked with the Latinx community in the San Francisco Mission District to provide art spaces for healing and building relationships through dance, social activism, and performances. During this bilingual and interactive event, Maldonado will present a lecture and performance demonstrating her process of creating "Our Work/Our Dignity," a dance theater piece that featured 13 domestic workers and day laborers performing live music, poetry, and worker testimonies.
